Dropping Off and Picking Up Your Child

Children should arrive at Roots and Wings between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. Late arrivals prevent children from enjoying the full day’s activities. A short transition and separation time is expected at drop-off. Parents are encouraged to give a brief good-bye to their child. Please put your child’s coat and hat on the hook provided, clean clothes and diapers in his or her bin, and lunch and drinks or bottles in the refrigerator. Parents are also required to write your child’s name, time of arrival and their initials on the attendance log provided. Please do not drop-off your child after 1:00 pm so as not to disturb the children’s nap-time. Drop-off and pick-up is not permitted at parks or playgrounds.

The day at Roots and Wings ends at 6:00 p.m. You are expected to pick up your child by that time. Please let the staff know in the mornings or by telephone during the day if you are going to be early (before 5:00 p.m.), or if someone other than one of the child’s parents will be picking up your child. Staff will not release children to anyone not known to them unless notified in advance. If you are delayed past 6:00 p.m., a late fine of $10 per quarter hour (or portion thereof) per child is charged, and must be paid directly and immediately to the staff member working overtime. You are deemed late if it is after 6:00 p.m. on the wall clock at Roots and Wings.

Each evening, you should empty your child’s bin of artwork, soiled clothing, etc. You should also check the bulletin boards for records of your child’s sleep and toilet activity as well as other information.
